10 Headlines from this weekend of football

by Jack Posted September 14th, 2010

10. Denard Robinson is on pace for the greatest single-season by a college football player:

When a quarterback has over 440 yards passing for the first two games of the season, that’s pretty good. But to rush for 197 yards in one game, and 258 the next to go with those passing totals, is just insane. Granted it’s two games and we won’t know if he’s the real deal until he gets into the meat of the Big Ten schedule. But for now, hats off to him.

9. Michael Vick emerges back into our football related conscience:

After Kevin Kolb went down with a concussion, Vick stepped in and looked incredible. Vick threw for 175 yards, and ran for 103 in an effort that brought the Eagles back into the game against the Packers that they would eventually lose 27-20.

Week 1 NFL Picks

by Jack Posted September 11th, 2010

A little late on these picks considering Saints-Vikings opened the season thursday night. I would of picked New Orleans anyway, seriously.

This maybe the last season of football for a while because after it, the owners will wrap their 3 Billion dollar worth dick around the players neck and demand every single facet they desire in the new collective bargaining agreement until the players will ever earn a paycheck again.

It’s hard to sympathize with guys making millions more dollars than you, but if the fans were in their position, they to would be reluctant to allow the owners to get every bit of advantage over them from extending an already long and grueling season, to cutting salaries and guaranteed dollars in a league that already offers the least financial security out of the major American sports.

2010 College Football Preview

by Jack Posted September 1st, 2010

A lot of things suck about the end of summer. But as the rays of the sun begin to hide earlier in the evening as September encroaches, the start of the college football season is that last remaining ray of light that makes life a little more interesting.

Sure the sport has its flaws, but just like your wife, girlfriend, whom ever your hooking up with, and masturbating, those as well have them to. What do we do? We except them and love them for what they are.

NFL won’t sign Tony Washington for having sex with his sister

by Jack Posted August 28th, 2010

Tony Washington seems like a good kid, and a hard worker. The mistake he made of having sex with his sister has ultimately cost him a chance to make an NFL living. Even though incest is the most grotesque consensual sexual act, along with using fecal matter in a bout of four-play, it still doesn’t make him a bad guy.

Even though Tony Washington is not a bad guy, and there are plenty of guys in the NFL who are, I still fully understand why no team will ever sign this guy just for that incident with his sister. NFL locker rooms would have a field-day with this guy. They would torture him. No matter how much more money he would make, he’s better off evading the abuse he would get in one training camp.

Evidence of the Celtics getting fucked over against the Lakers in the 2010 Finals

by Jack Posted August 26th, 2010

This is ‘Zapruder’ film type shit right here. For all of those who wanted to just get on with their summer after the 2010 Finals and say the better team won, or the Laker fans who rejoiced with claims of victory, this video is a big ‘sit the fuck down, and never open your mouth again.’

How the fuck can you deny this shit? I mean, I called shenanigans and threw the red flag after the game, but now I got the indisputable visual evidence, so it’s time to overturn this shit.

Top 100 NFL Players… 20-1

by Jack Posted August 23rd, 2010

Before I reveal the top 20, it’s important to understand that football is at an all-time high as far as competition, and some of the players left off deserve to be mentioned because they are still good players.

Brian Urlacher- A few years back this guy was one of the best defensive players in football, but is at a point now where he has to salvage his recognition as a great middle-linebacker after tough injuries.

Lance Briggs, Justin Tuck, Steve Smith (Giants), Dallas Clark, Kris Dielman, David Diehl, Jeff Saturday, Lee Evans, Sebastian Volmer, Brandon Merriweather, Quentin Jammer, Michael Crabtree, Matthew Stafford, Eli Manning, Marques Colston, Reggie Bush, Jon Stinchcomb, Leonard Davis, Curtis Lofton, Mike Jenkins, Kerry Rhodes, Karlos Dansby, Yerimiah Bell, and Donald Penn

Top 100 NFL Players… 40-21

by Jack Posted August 22nd, 2010

40. Aaron Rodgers (QB, Packers)- 2009 was the season for quarterbacks with 9 of them throwing over 4,200 yards. In 2005 there were none. What we are seeing is an aerial game coming full circle with the rules that have been changed to open up the offenses, also more sophisticated passing schemes, and it also helps that there are better quarterbacks like Rodgers playing in the league now.

Rodgers has the great ability to hit a receiver with a downfield strike right where it needs to be. His biggest flaw for now is that he holds the ball for far too long. He was sacked 50 times last season, and a lot of that was on him for holding an extra 1-2 seconds. He also needs to be better at identifying blitzes, which is what the top 3 quarterbacks in this league thrive on.

Top 100 NFL Players… 60-41

by Jack Posted August 22nd, 2010

60. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (DB, Cardinals)- Certainly has the aptitude to be an elite corner in the league. A pro-bowler in his second-season, Rodgers-Cromartie has great breaks, size, speed, and fluid hips that the former 1-AA standout out of Tennessee State has the make-up of an ideal corner in the NFL.

59. Frank Gore (RB, 49ers)- Another one down for the ‘U,’ and this guy definitely deserves it. Backs who can catch the ball out of the backfield, and give you 400 yards receiving every year to go along with the 1000+ from the ground are valuable commodities. They are few and far between, and Gore is one of them.

Top 100 NFL Players… 80-61

by Jack Posted August 21st, 2010

80. D.J Williams (LB, Broncos)- Williams in his 6-year career has never made a pro-bowl, but in no way does that take away the value he provides for a defense. He excels in coverage from the linebacker position, and racks up well over 100 tackles every year.

Williams will not wow you with spectacular plays, but he is always consistent and can make any defense, in any scheme, better.

79. Chris Snee (G, Giants)- Eli Manning has had a lot of protection over the years because this guy has been blocking for him. Very powerful at the line-of-scrimmage, and does well opening up running lanes for the ball carrier.

78. Nick Mangold (C, Jets)- Mangold is only a few years into his career and is already the best center, and probably will be for years to come.

Top 100 NFL Players… 100-81

by Jack Posted August 21st, 2010

The criteria for determining this list is simply based on which player gives a team the best chance at winning this up and coming season. Quarterback is universally considered the most important position and it is., Even though a player, for instance Aaron Rodgers who is a franchise quarterback; Having him does not mean a team has a better chance of winning than if they had Patrick Willis at middle linebacker. Willis’s position may not have as big an impact on a team as quarterback, but with a player of his caliber he can effect the game in a way that his value to an NFL roster is more than Rodgers’s despite the position he plays.
